Job Description:
This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, House Office Buildings, Tenant Services Division, Masonry Branch. The incumbent serves as foreman in the Masonry Branch and provides supervision and coordination for service requests, construction and renovation projects, maintenance, and repair.

You must meet the following SCREEN-OUT(S) required for this position: Performing supervisory and/or team leader tasks of masonry trade such as assigning, directing, reviewing, coordinating, scheduling the work of subordinates, and problem solving.
Tour of duty for this position is: Monday - Friday 4:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Work schedule may require some occasionally mandatory overtime on holidays AND weekends. The incumbent is an Emergency Essential Employee required to report to work during inclement weather and other emergencies. The incumbent of this position supervises a group of employees performing work at the WG-8 and WG-11 level. Duties include, but are not limited to: Supervisory Responsibilities: Assign duties and evaluate employees’ performance. Manage the Branch’s budget and workload. Develop performance requirements for subordinates and ensure a mutual understanding of the performance standards. Resolve complaint and grievance as delegated by higher level supervisors. Provide leadership to ensure support for equal employment opportunity (EEO) goals and requirements. Prepare cost estimates from drawings, blueprints or site inspections for proposed or anticipated construction projects and alterations. Provide or receive training, either on the job or through classroom training to ensure that all direct reports know how to use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Masonry Responsibilities: Repair, maintain, and erect stone, brick, concrete, and concrete block. Set stone and other types of building materials on walls and partitions. Polish, cut, clean, and match a variety of bluestone, granite, limestone, marble, and sandstone. Lay block and brick. Set, lay, polish, and repair tile and terrazzo. Cuts openings in walls and finishes exposed surfaces. Clean masonry surfaces using chemicals or high-pressure power washers. Install waterproof membranes in fountains, pools, and showers. Install ceramic tiles. Pour and finish concrete pads and decks. Inspect work in progress to ensure work is accomplished according to specifications and plans. Oversee the cutting, polishing, cleaning, and matching of a wide variety of stone used. Sort stone by size and shape and cuts, shapes, finishes, and lay it to ensure long term endurance and appearance. Perform other related duties as assigned.
