Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, San Diego Sector, Mission Readiness Operations Division, Logistics & Operational Support Branch, Property & Asset Management. Additional selections may be made for other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Conducting local records management and producing various reports. Conducting various environmental, security, and safety inspections, and tracking the progress on assessment findings. Managing inventories, records management, and providing training in accordance with local and higher directives. Compiling and analyzing data to identify trends, deficiencies, and accomplishments related to the assigned programs that are subject to frequent change based on mission changes. Making decisions on problems presented by staff, communicating performance requirements, evaluating work performance and recommending recognition of employees. Supervisory Probationary Period: You may be required to serve an 18-month probationary period upon appointment to this position. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within 90 days of assignment to this position. Leadership Training: All newly appointed, first-time CBP Supervisors are required to complete mandatory CBP Supervisory Leadership (SLT) training. SLT will be scheduled by the Office of Training and Development within the first 90 days of appointment. The duration of the training will include three weeks of in residence training in Harpers Ferry, WV.
In this Mission Support Specialist (Asset Management) role, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security individuals involved in planning and carrying out a wide variety of mission support functions, including, leading a United States Border Patrol Sector asset management program and operations, performing significant review and analysis of asset management and other areas in support of the Mission Readiness Operations Division. This position starts at a salary of $120,381.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $156,498.00 (GS-13, Step 10). GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area. Typical duties of this assignment include: Managing the agency's Asset Management Program to include attaining, obtaining, receiving, transferring, excessing, reutilizing, repairing, disposing, and retiring of various types of property. Managing and performing tasks associated with procurement, creating requisitions and purchase orders; analyzing data to make recommendations for future budgeting for the sector. Managing the sector's land-based telephone and wireless services, functioning as Wireless Account Custodian (WAC). Conducting minor changes to the land-based telephone system, and submitting change/repair requests for all other land-based and wireless telephone issues. Assists in implementing, coordinating, and overseeing a variety of requirements and activities affecting organizational activities and operations. Performing ongoing mentoring, training and guidance to peers, colleagues, employees and supervisors; assisting with developing and recommending solutions to a range of operational and technical issues to evaluate and improve services and processes, responsible for implementing new related policies and procedures.
