Physician Assistant Basic Requirements Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant ~AND~ Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) (or are you in the process to taking the exam) ~AND~ Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. Physical Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment physical examination as required by VA Handbook 5019. This examination is administered by VA Occupational Health. This position requires moderate lifting up to 44 lbs., carrying objects up to 15 lbs., frequent reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, hands and legs, use of cranes and motor vehicles, walking & standing up to 8 hours, bending and climbing and able to hear whisper. The incumbent must be physically, emotionally and mentally stable in order to efficiently perform the essential functions of this position without hazard to themselves or others.

The physician assistant will evaluate, treat and coordinate the care of patients, under the supervision of a staff physician. He/she will perform this in clinics and will also be available by phone to triage symptoms and coordinate care. This position requires that one be skillfully qualified and specialized in specific duties and medication regimens related to the entire spectrum of cardiovascular disorders. This position also requires strong interpersonal interaction and procedural skills. Duties include but not limited to: Determine Veteran eligibility for procedures, and consent for procedures.- Prepare patients for the procedure via appropriate testing, medical care, and consultations with other medical/surgical services. Coordinate the in-hospital care plans and performance of procedures with various physicians and nursing services, vendors, and administration. Provide in-hospital care, post-procedure care, counseling and coordinate follow-up appointments. Work with administrators and regulatory bodies to assure cardiovascular procedure program quality. Work closely with the Attendings and Fellows to provide recommendations and perform procedures on patients a consult placed. Appropriately hand off patient care. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. Work schedule subject to change based on agency need.
