The North Florida/ South Georgia VA Healthcare System's Diagnostic Imaging Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy Certification. All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R). Education. Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from [other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Education (DOE). Credentialing Standards. Public Law 97-35, the Consumer-Patient Radiation Health and Safety Act of 1981, requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75, Standards for the Accreditation of Educational Programs and the Credentialing of Radiographic Personnel. Essentially, they must have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation and is accredited by an organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and be certified as radiographers in their field. Loss of Credential. An employee in this occupation who fails to obtain certification within two years, or who fails to maintain the required certification must be removed from the occupation, which may also result in termination of employment. Physical Requirements. See VA Directive and Handbook 5019. English Language Proficiency. DRTs must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d). Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist GS-11 Grade Determinations: In addition to meeting the basic requirements stated above, the following qualifications criteria must be met. Experience: Candidates must have at least one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-10). Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: In addition to the experience listed above, The candidate must demonstrate all of the following technical KSAs: Ability to analyze organizational, technical, and administrative problems and to develop and implement solutions that result in efficient section operation. Ability to analyze and use data effectively to manage section workload, quality, performance, and productivity. Skill in problem solving and conflict resolution. Ability to supervise technologists performing a wide variety of difficult radiographic exams (CT, MRI, Special Procedures, Mammography, Ultrasound). Ability to interview and evaluate candidates for positions, evaluate subordinate performance, recommend appointments, advancements, or recommend or take appropriate disciplinary actions. Skill in participating in organizational facility initiatives, workgroups, and/or committees. Physical Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment physical examination as required by VA Handbook 5019. This examination is administered by VA Occupational Health. This position requires moderate lifting up to 44 lbs., carrying objects up to 15 lbs., frequent reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, hands and legs, use of cranes and motor vehicles, walking & standing up to 8 hours, bending and climbing and able to hear whisper. The incumbent must be physically, emotionally and mentally stable in order to efficiently perform the essential functions of this position without hazard to themselves or others.

Supervisory area of responsibility encompasses all Lake City radiology sections of Diagnostic Imaging Service. Assigns, directs and reviews work in progress, or upon completion, to ascertain problems and takes required corrective action. Performs the Annual Performance Appraisals and quarterly competencies for the assigned technical staff. Knowledge of SOP's that documents the process and procedures for cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and preparation of Reusable Medical Equipment. Must comply with VA directives and regulations concerning scheduling and canceling appointments to assure that they meet the criteria. Responsible for the maintenance and coordinating repairs of all Medical Imaging/Non-­Imaging equipment in areas assigned under their supervision. Works with the Chief Technologist in developing administrative and operational plans when necessary to meet challenges, deadlines, priorities, and increased productivity to improve the flow of work in Services based on analysis of such factors as manpower, equipment utilized, workload, available examination of facilities, and personnel required for various examinations which requires controls and records and coordination with other professional services. Maintains effective relationships with internal and external VA staff and other customers. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor.
