Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) surveillance, monitoring and controlling construction of buildings of all types to ensure compliance with contract documents and to ensure proper construction materials and techniques; 2) reviewing construction technical data for progress reports, preparing data for processing of pay estimates for construction projects; 3) enforcing construction industry and safety standards on construction projects; and 4) providing mentoring and oversight to others on the team. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Ability to communicate. Construction/Architect & Engineering (A&E) Leadership Project Management Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
Serve as a Senior Construction Control Representative for the South Pacific Border District (SPB) to execute and synchronize southern border construction requirements for permanent protective barrier construction along the U.S. southern border.
Participate in extensive construction and engineering management decisions relative to the military and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) border construction missions.
Direct the full range of field and office engineering functions, delegating responsibility to subordinate project engineers and leaders.
Exercise final authority to approving contractors' construction schedules, safety program, quality control procedures, plant layouts, and road systems.
Plan work to be accomplished, set priorities, schedule work phases, and make work assignments based on urgency of the work and subordinates' capabilities.
