To qualify for a Security Specialist your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-15 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Comprehensive knowledge of security, intelligence, counterintelligence and countermeasures including major security specialization of physical, industrial, personnel, information, and operations security disciplines. Advising top level agency senior executives, security, and subject-matter managers on Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF) and Special Access Program Facilities (SAPF), including control of information contained at the Top Secret, SCI, and SAP levels. Serving as an expert in analyzing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating the development of national level policy and direction. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Serves as the security program manager for all designated aspects of security operations and program protection, including strategic threat mitigation policy, security risk management, and security policy and execution encompassing all disciplines.
Analyzes plans and procedures to evaluate and determine defense program vulnerabilities and supports information systems planning and implementation studies.
Assesses the impact of policy/legislative requirements from DoD and Congress to determine the required actions and impact on the security of associated defense programs.
Represents the Director of Security Operations on working groups and meetings with the Military Services and DoD involved with all aspects of risk management and security issues.
Develops security concepts to transition and integrate programmatic upgrades and enhancements with existing capabilities.
Performs oversight reviews to monitor program implementation and practices in those areas by lower echelons and other supported organizations.
