This vacancy is for a GS-0560-12, BUDGET ANALYST located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, BASE NEW ORLEANS COMPTROLLER and BASE OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT -B in NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana.
To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular and recurring basis. Analyzing and monitoring budget execution. Developing strategies and recommendations for budget formulation and justification. Interpreting financial data and preparing reports. Advising on the financial impact of legislative or policy changes. Managing complex budgets, including multi-year financial planning and resource allocation. You will serve as a BUDGET ANALYST and be responsible for performing advanced analytical, technical, and administrative duties in all phases of budget administration including formulation, justification, execution and presentation. Responsibilities include analyzing complex programs, developing financial policies, interpreting legislation, forecasting long-term funding needs, and providing authoritative guidance to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and compliance with federal regulations.. Typical work assignments include: Analyze operations, financial systems, periodic and special reports and systems edits to develop information on trends, anomalies, or problems, and develop solutions; planning and executing changes to the content and nature of financial reports and application of computer technology to accounting functions. Analyze national level programs, exceptionally large and complex programs (e.g., multi-million-dollar research grants, contracts, and /or cooperative acquisition agreements). Develop, recommend, and implement budgetary and financial policies.
