The Textile Production Supervisor is responsible to the Housekeeping Aid Supervisor for assisting him/her in the management planning, directing and coordination of the Textile cate production facility (TCPF), PAP, baggage room and uniform operations. This operation must meet the daily laundry, textile and uniform needs of: (1) VA medical center, Martinsburg, WV, (2) Air National Guard, Martinsburg, WV and (3) contract laundry services.

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The incumbent is responsible to the House Keeping Aid Supervisor for the accomplishment of scheduled, plans, work assignments, priorities and deadline of the following units: (1) Receiving, (2) Sorting, (3) washer-extractor, (4) Dryer- Conditioner, (5) Flatwork Iron units, (6) Rough Dry- sorting and folding unit, (7) Uniform Exchange unit, (8) Classification unit- uniform and patient personal clothing, (9) fabric worker repairs, (10) textile distribution, and (11) PAP. Incumbent is a working supervisor The incumbent is held accountable for the quality and quantity of work produced. Incumbent must have knowledge of various linens, patient clothing, and uniform items used throughout the medical center and their proper uses. The highest level of work supervised is at the WG-06 Level. Incumbent analyzes all work units, determines the manpower requitements for production, the methods, and procedures to be used, plans for workloads and makes assignments. The incumbent provides information to the Housekeeping Aid Supervisor and completes necessary reports on supplies and equipment required, laundry, textile and uniform budgets to include initiating requests for supplies and materials through the IFCAP system for Housekeeping Aid Supervisor approval, production data and other statistical data that is required by Environmental Management Service, station management and/or VA central office directives. Incumbent is responsible for the startup of all TCPF equipment each day, ensuring that steam and air pressure is turned on to all equipment, to monitor equipment to ensure pressure is accurate and turn off pressure at the end of tour of duty. The incumbent is responsible for personal management functions within the textile plant. This includes lifting recommendations for employment, promotions, reassignments, disciplinary action, commendations, establishing and review position descriptions, performance requirements for subordinates and determines performance ratings. Conducts on-the- job training, holds meetings with employees and maintains safety standards on equipment. The incumbent reviews and resolves employee problems, schedules and approves leave for subordinates and maintains productions reports each day. Preforms other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Varies depending on the departments needs Position Description Title/PD#: Textile Production Supervisor/PD252240 Physical Requirements: Physically demanding production environment that requires continual pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching for hours at a time. These factors are encountered daily in the regular operations of handling clean and soiled linen. Weight of the linen handled varies to as much as 75 pounds from both the processing and delivery areas. Responsible to move heavy carts of clean and soiled lines throughout the medical center.
