Job Description:
This position is located in the Human Resources Division-Arlington, VA. The selectee of this position serves as a Human Resources Specialist (Payroll). You will be responsible for overseeing the USMS payroll system (National Finance Center); providing quality control for payroll actions and providing assistance to USMS employees who have general retirement/benefits questions.
GS-12 TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 grade level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted). You may qualify at the GS-0201-12 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualifications: Specialized Experience: One year of full-time specialized work experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing duties such as: 1.) Research, interpret, and provide guidance on pay administration laws, rules, regulations and practices. 2.) Provide quality control for payroll actions and advise staff on corrections; 3.) Processing personnel actions in an automated system; and 4.) Assisting managers and human resources staff in making proper referrals to external resources for employees with sensitive or serious problems that are directly related to benefit payroll and compensation programs. As a Human Resources Specialist (Payroll) at the GS-0201-12 level, some of your typical work assignments may include: Resolving agency payroll, benefits, and processing problems. Providing Quality Control for payroll actions. Anticipating problems and provides solutions to problem pay cases. Conduct training for Human Resources Staff on matters related to Processing actions. Providing advice and assistance to employees on individual payroll issues.
