This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted position for a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D0324000, and is part of the 169 MXS, South Carolina Air National Guard.
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO AREAS OF CONSIDERATION (AOC) 1 ONLY. Area 1: All current permanent federal technician employees of the South Carolina Air National Guard. (Note-Temporary and Indefinite employees do not meet permanent tenure requirements and will not qualify for this AOC.) Area 2: All current military members of the South Carolina Air National Guard. Area 3: US Citizens eligible for immediate membership in the South Carolina Air National Guard. Military Grade: Enlisted MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3. This position is located in the Aerospace Ground Equipment Section at ANG Flying Activities and mission support units. The primary purpose of this position is to accomplish maintenance on electronically controlled powered support equipment containing highly complex digital devices and integrated circuits. This position is responsible for the comprehensive maintenance, repair, and overhaul of a wide array of complex Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) and powered support equipment. This includes interpreting technical documentation to troubleshoot, calibrate, and align systems; repairing or replacing electronic components (both digital and analog); and performing maintenance on engines (rotary diesel, gas turbine, internal combustion), hydraulic systems, and cryogenic equipment. The role demands the independent determination of repair procedures for unusual problems, the use of sophisticated testing equipment for diagnostics, and the ability to perform intermediate-level maintenance tasks such as engine rebuilding, accessory overhauls, and the application of Technical Order Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs). Additionally, the position involves corrosion control, equipment calibration, data collection, the maintenance of technical publications, participation in safety programs and readiness evaluations, and potentially assisting with emergency response activities.
