Job Description:
This position is part of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting to all levels of management pertaining to DSCA administrative requirements and related goals, objectives, plans and documents.
You may qualify at the GS-11, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service: Coordinating and executing administrative procedures and policies Coordinating meetings with senior officials and foreign dignitaries Compiling information for review, revision and response from international and domestic leaders Performing administrative functions to support leadership Ensuring all correspondence and taskers are completed on time Providing operational support to management and staff.; OR B. Education Substitution: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related; OR C. Education Combination: You have some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and you have more than one year but less than two years of education as described in B. You have computed the percentage of the requirements that you meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
As a Management Support Specialist at the GS-0301-11 some of your typical work assignments may include: Serving as a Management Support Specialist to the Chief of Staff (CoS), responsible for performing a variety of management support functions, involving the application of administrative and operational policies and procedures. Assisting in planning, coordinating, and executing DoD and DSCA operations and programs including events with senior DoD and foreign officials and supporting additional administrative areas to include protocol and public relations. Providing assistance to all levels of management pertaining to DSCA administrative requirements and related goals, objectives, plans and documents. Participating in special studies with management and others in conducting analysis of issues and problems concerning internal missions, function, etc. Compiling information for reviews, revises and responds to requests for information from international and national dignitaries. Responsible for taking impromptu corrective action and improvising solutions for unforeseen unanticipated requirements and challenges. Maintaining familiarity with and applies administrative directives, policies and standing operating procedures (SOPs); works under the general supervision of the CoS while exercising responsibility for internal day-to-day administrative operations on the regional team. Supporting the regional team leadership at meetings, briefings, and conferences; ensuring all action items and important information is noted and disseminated accordingly to meet the requirements of DSCA leadership. Draft and edit correspondence and other documents for executive use, use coordination workflow software to solicit and incorporate other edits.
