Serves as a Carpentry Worker Supervisor at a federal correctional facility and supervises an inmate work crew. The position is located in the Facilities Department, and is responsible for the construction, alteration and repairing of buildings and structures made from wood or wood products. Primary duties of the incumbent include the supervision and instruction of inmate workers in the construction, alteration, repair and modification of structures such as framework, rafters, doors, paneling, windows, interior and exterior trim, staircases, trusses and beams. Responsible for the training, custody and discipline of inmate workers assigned to the carpentry shop. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
