Job Description:

These temporary positions are located in Pacific West Region (Interior Regions 8,9,10 and 12) and are intended to assist permanent Concessions Management staff in concessions management work. Open to the first 50 applicants or until 12/17/2025 whichever comes first. All applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on the closing day will receive consideration.
All qualifications must be met by 11:59 EST on the closing date or when the 'applicant cut-off' is reached (which may be sooner than 12/17/2025). Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-5 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: assisting with evaluations of concessions or commercial service providers such as food service, overnight lodging, transportation services, guided activities or retail sales, to ensure compliance with contracts/commercial use authorizations or quality control of services or goods provided; collecting, tracking, compiling, and maintaining data related to commercial services or special park uses using a variety of computer software applications; assisting with the analysis of commercial services or special park uses data for feasibility and comparability studies; and assisting to prepare routine reports related to commercial services or special park uses. You must include hours per week worked in your resume. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 4 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., only education beyond the second year is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement) and divide it by 60 semester hours (or equivalent). Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts. To qualify for this position at the GS-6 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: Experience: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) in concession management assistance work, or in a directly related field. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include but are not limited to: knowledge or assisting evaluations of concessions or commercial service providers such as food service, overnight lodging, transportation services, guided activities or retail sales, to ensure compliance with contracts/commercial use authorizations or quality control of services or goods provided; collecting, tracking, compiling, and maintaining data related to commercial services or special park uses using a variety of computer software applications; knowledge or assisting with analysis of commercial services or special park uses data for feasibility and comparability studies; and preparing routine reports related to commercial services or special park uses. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. CTAP/ICTAP Statement: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. The Pacific West Region is recruiting for Temporary seasonal positions not to exceed 1039 hours work in a service year. Dates of employment will vary between sites depending on funding, weather conditions, and visitation. Within regulatory limitations, the length of initial appointment may be shortened or extended depending upon work availability and funding. Crater Lake National Park is hiring one Seasonal GS-1101-5 Concessions Management Assistant. Anticipated Entry on Duty: March 2026. Sequioa and Kings Canyon National Parks are hiring one Seasonal GS-1101-6 Concessions Management Assistant. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April 2026. Major Duties: Performs a variety of concessions management administrative support duties as assigned, including preparing routine reports related to the Commercial Services Program using established templates. Under the direction of and in consultation with permanent Concessions Management Staff, assists with evaluations of concession operations through on-site verification and documentation of previously identified deficiencies. Provides concise oral and written communications regarding Commercial Services in support of visitor services. Logs and tracks incoming complaint letters and response due dates. Maintains records/log system documenting receipt of reports, statistics, and other specific documents from the concessioners as well as controlled correspondence and visitor comments. GS-6 only: Serves as principal contact for general concessions information in the concessions office, providing information such as reporting formats and deadlines, the status of various solicitations, required formats and provisions of contracts, procedures to be followed in competing for concessions contracts or applying for permits and the status of correspondence. Physical Demands: No special demands are required to perform the work. Normally the employee may sit comfortably to do the work or walk reasonable differences. There may be some extended walking through concessions facilities, carrying of light items such as papers and files. Working Conditions: The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, or commercial vehicles (e.g. use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations.
