About the Position: This position is for a Dentist (General Practice) GP-0680-15 with the Continental Network for Defense Health Agency at Falls Church, VA. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Basic Requirements for Dentist (General Practice): EDUCATION: Applicants must have a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association(external link) (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation(external link) (CODA) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. LICENSURE: Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations(external link) (NBDE) which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations(external link) (JCNDE) and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. MEDICAL REQUIREMENT: Applicants must be able to distinguish shades of color In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIRED: A. Applicant has completed a 3-year residency in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science, AND two year of full-time experience and/or training in professional dentistry work equivalent to the next level grade level (GP-14) OR B. Applicant has five years of professional dentistry experience and/or training, equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-14). OR C. Applicant has completed a residency program in dentistry, oral health craniofacial sciences, or related medical science AND professional dentistry experience and/or training equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-14). The combination of residency program and professional dentistry experience and/or training is equal to or greater than five years. Note for Qualifying Experience: Qualifying experience involves the evaluation, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area. Examples of dentistry experience may include the removal of decay; filling cavities; straightening, extracting, and repairing teeth; treating gum diseases; performing corrective surgery; making measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth, administering anesthetics, writing prescriptions; and performing other requirements of the position.
Prepare a variety of formal written documents for senior leadership and, preparation and delivery of briefings and group facilitation.
Provide technical advice and understanding of the regulation and fiscal responsibilities that affect the operating budget
Provide program oversight, direction, coordination, and leadership in dental and clinical program performance.
Monitor and evaluates the quality of care across the network of dental and clinical practice and programs.
Develops standardize practices and approaches providing dental healthcare.
Restoration using direct (amalgams, composites, sealants) and indirect (crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays) dental restorative materials.
Perform comprehensive oral examinations.
Perform oral surgery procedures, such as removal of erupted and unerupted teeth, residual root tips, and teeth with exposed roots.
Apply corrective treatment where proper occlusion is difficult to attain.
Perform prophylaxis treatment, scaling and root planning, individual oral health counseling and patient education.
Perform prosthetic work to replace missing teeth.
