To qualify for this position, you must: Have the ability to do the work of a Motor Vehicle Operator WG-5703-4 without more than normal supervision. (Screen out). This includes work such as: operating a variety of motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds to transport personnel, material or equipment on private or government land; perform preventative maintenance on vehicles; load and unload cargo safely, using tie downs, straps, chains, etc. Have the ability to do the work of a Motor Vehicle Operator WG-5703-5 without more than normal supervision. (WG 05 only) WG-4: Physical Effort: Light physical effort is required to operate the vehicles controls. Moderate effort is exerted in the frequent handling of objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and the occasional handling of heavier objects while loading cargo, with the assistance of other workers or weight handling equipment. Other collateral duties may include more strenuous activities. Working Conditions: Incumbent is required to work outside and is exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures. Operates vehicles in all types of weather in a controlled traffic environment. Drivers are exposed to dirt and fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle. WG-5: Physical Effort: Moderate physical effort may be required in making couplings between the vehicle and towed equipment. Considerable physical effort may be required to change tires and make limited emergency repairs. Required to frequently lift items weighing over 50 pounds. Work may involve climbing of ladders, scaffolding, and working in and around power tools and equipment. Working Conditions: Incumbent is required to work outside and is exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures. Operates vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads and is exposed to dirt and fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle.
