SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the ZA-4 or GS-13 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the ZA-3 or GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following: Overseeing or executing management plans in support of a marine sanctuary program or natural resources management program; Collaborating with government and non-government entities and stakeholders on complex politically sensitive issues; and Prioritizing and assigning work for staff and improving the effectiveness of the administrative operations of a program.
As a Supervisory Sanctuary Superintendent, you will perform the following duties: Develop and implement Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary (FKNMS) program functions and collaborate with government and non-government entities and stakeholders in support of FKNMS programs and policies. Direct the day-to-day implementation and execution of the organization's administrative and financial operations, to include multiyear and longer budget and agreements. Carry out policies and purposes of the National Marine Sanctuaries Act, relevant presidential proclamations, executive orders, and oversee development of plans and programs for both short and long time frames to conserve, protect, enhance, restore, investigate, and manage sanctuary resources through research and outreach. Exercise supervisory authority over the FKNMS program staff and manage the human resources functions and staffing planning for programs. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the operation of a Federal motor vehicle. This position has physical requirements. This position requires the submission of a Financial Disclosure Form, SF-450. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Frequent travel to a variety of locations to meet with collaborators and participate in community or scientific presentations, meetings and discussions is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license to operate a government vehicle.
