About the Position: About the Position: This position is located at Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Washington. the incumbent will carry out the full range of technical support functions in the pharmacy. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A Recruitment or Relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing technical support work in a pharmacy under the supervision of a registered pharmacist that involve the performance of a variety of technical support functions in the following: filling prescriptions, distributing pharmaceuticals, and utilizing pharmacy based computer systems gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories. OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.
The incumbent will serve as a dispensing for outpatient pharmacy technician
Receive and review prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals to include controlled drugs on the formulary.
Determine type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity of medication prescription to be dispensed.
Package and label products and ensure proper handling, storage, and accountability.
Coordinate with prescriber or pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions.
Enter prescriptions into outpatient computer system reviewing profile for allergies, drug/drug or drug/food interactions.
Provide instruction (s) to patients on proper use of medications.
