Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Trade, Operations Directorate, located in Washington, DC. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Assisting in identifying issues, developing short- and long-term commercial trade intervention strategies. Recommending solutions utilizing data analytics to identify areas of risks within various programs. Analyzing results of trade trends and enforcement operations for risk and program effectiveness; planning, executing, monitoring, and evaluating enforcement of trade laws and areas of risk. Researching and recommending appropriate actions or interpretation of issues that impact organization, component, or agency. This position starts at a salary of $101,401.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $131,826.00 (GS-12, Step 10) with promotion potential to $156,755 (GS-13 Step 10). Major duties include: Utilizing computer systems and data analytics to identify areas of risk in the global supply chain. Organizing raw data in spreadsheets, analyzing data deciphering key takeaways, creating charts, graphs, and reports on results to creatively solve complex problems and developing processes and/or procedures for enforcement action or concepts for trade strategies. Analyzing results of trade trends, enforcement operations, for risk and program effectiveness, while demonstrating initiative and managing time effectively. Participating in collaborative efforts with others to facilitate project completion. Planning, executing, monitoring and evaluating enforcement of trade laws and areas of risk. Writing operational policy for regulatory implementation of trade laws. Recommending corrective action and provides possible solutions based on level of risk. Completing issue focused analysis for the agency's senior leadership, as well as in response to Department or congressional inquiries by preparing letters, memoranda, and reports for review by the senior analyst or supervisor. Representing the CBP /OT in a variety of settings and meetings. Establishing, developing, and maintaining effective working relationships with high level officials, agency representatives, state, local, Federal, etc. Meeting with key customers and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organization policy and procedures, and resolving problems that arise. Participating in special projects and initiatives and performing special assignments. Evaluating reports by analyzing facts and performing appropriate research and prepares detailed responses. Determining appropriate recommendations for unresolved or questionable problems and performs follow-up. Researching and determining or recommending appropriate actions or interpretation of issues that impact organization, component, or agency.
