The Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center is recruiting for one Podiatrist to perform supervisory duties with Acute Psychiatric Services in the Behavioral Health Service at the VA Hospital in Spokane, WA.
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Podiatrist Basic Requirements Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Approved schools are United States schools of podiatric medicine approved by the Council on Podiatry Education of the American Podiatry Association in the year in which the degree was granted. ~AND~ Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. VA Podiatrists involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status. Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education, the Council on Podiatric Medical Education, in the list published for the year the residency was completed, or (2) Other residencies and training experiences, or their equivalents, which the local Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training. ~AND~ Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. Supervisory Responsibilities: 1. Provides clinical oversight of acute and specialty psychiatric care at the Spokane VAMC-highly professional services that are critical components of the Medical Center's health care mission. Incumbent is responsible for the quality of acute/specialty evaluation, intervention, and consultation offered by a team of physicians, psychologists, mid-level prescribers, and others.2. Participates in the development of policies and procedures for psychiatric care and consultation offered at VAMC Spokane.3. Coordinates and provides clinical oversight of physicians, nurse practitioners, and other professionals who provide or support provision of psychiatric care in the acute and specialty outpatient areas.4. Completes formal annual performance appraisals of all supervisees.5. Promotes clinical training and development of acute and specialty medical staff and those who support provision of psychiatric care. 6. Assures that all supervisees are competent to practice as privileged. Assists medical staff office with privileging process for staff who are new to VAMC Spokane. Completes OPPE's and FPPE's for Physicians, ARNPs, PAs, and Clinical Pharmacy Specialist. Monitors and reports to the Psychiatry Section Chief on the clinical competency of all those providing acute and specialty psychiatric care.7. In collaboration with the Psychiatry Section Chief, develops and proposes systems for assessing and monitoring clinical outcomes for psychiatric care, as well as for improving clinical practices through outcome data.8. Collaborates closely with supervisor, BHS clinical program coordinators and BHS administration to assure that treatment planning and delivery of acute and specialty psychiatric services are Veteran-centered, holistic, continuous, and thoroughly collaborative. Clinical Responsibilities: 1. Provides a full range of psychiatric care and consultation as outlined by clinical privileges.2. Through training and example, leads the acute and specialty psychiatry teams in implementation of evidence-based psychiatric assessment and intervention.3. Sets tone of professionalism, collaboration, and clinical excellence among psychiatry team.Actively contributes to the training of psychiatry residents. Works with Section Chief and local training directors and regional program directors to develop and implement training rotations and/or electives that support the needs of residents as well as the strategic goals of the organization.4. Trains and supervises psychiatry residents and, as appropriate, trainees of related disciplines.5. Coordinates and monitors clinical training for those providing and supporting psychiatric care.6. Serves on Medical Center, VISN, and/or VACO committees and task forces. Participates as member of VAMC Spokane Medical Staff. 7.
