These positions are located at Hot Springs National Park. The primary purpose is to perform building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties. Incumbent utilizes journeyman to master level knowledge and skills in several trades and crafts.
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT) Abilty to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprints reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc. Knowledge of materials Technical practices (theoretical precise, artistic) Use of measuring instruments SCREEN OUT: Minimum Qualifications: Perform most of the work as a Maintenance Mechanic at the journeyman level with a high level of independence in at least two of the following trades: Masonry, Electrical, Plumbing, Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic, Utilities Systems Repair-Operator and /or Engineering Equipment Operator. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. The primary function of these positions are the oversight and maintenance of all park HVAC systems to ensure property operation. Additional duties of this position include: Performing simple and routine maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, equipment, and related utilities, particularly related to electrical and plumbing. Assisting other maintenance workers or tradesmen in the performance of their work. Performing minor carpentry repairs using simple measures and hand tools on such tasks as replacing broken planks on picnic tables, broken windows using precut stock; minor adjustments or replacing hinges, latches, and catches. Performing minor painting using brush and roller according to specific instructions on projects where appearances are not critical such as staining picnic tables and trash barrels. Operating a light truck to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites while assisting on project work. Making minor repairs as needed referring problems to higher graded workers. Operating a forklift to load and unload supplies and light equipment.
