Job Description:
You will serve as a Division Principal Engineer (DPE) in the Undersea Systems Acquisitions and Assessment Division of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12/13) or pay band (ND-4) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer providing technical expertise, guidance, and leadership in the planning or execution of land-based or in-water test and evaluation. You will ensure division knowledge areas are in alignment with the department technical capabilities and the needs for customers.
You will provide judgement in making unbiased technical decisions necessary to implement appropriate standards and practices to ensure technically correct accomplishment of decision workload.
You will be responsible for resolving technical issues associated with the function, operation, and resource health of division technical systems and capabilities pertinent to land-based test and evaluation.
You will direct periodic Test and Evaluation system health assessments for visibility into the availability of our test capabilities and to identify gaps for critical sustainment issues.
You will develop and implement workforce shaping policies and requirements for engineers, technicians, and related science fields to ensure they are properly trained and able to carry out assigned tasks in accordance with established standards.
You will be responsible for ensuring the technical quality of all division activities, particularly those related to land-based test and evaluation.
You will work with technical competency managers and supervisors to establish required training and qualification standards necessary to ensure technical operations are conducted within NAVSEA policy
