This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Clinical Standards and Quality (CCSQ), Coverage & Analysis Group (CAG). As a Physician, GS-0602-15, you will serve as an authoritative senior clinical advisor and consultant regarding the development, evaluation, and implmentation of a wide range of Medicare coverage policies and associated clinical and scientific issues.

Teaching Experience: Graduate teaching experience as a member of the faculty in a school of medicine or school or public health may be credited for training positions or as appropriate for specialist positions. Recommend and conduct short-term and long-term studies concerning physician and ambulatory care services and other medical/clinical topics.
Assist in developing and modifying Medicare coverage policies by reviewing relevant evidence using evidence-based medicine principles and being accountable for developing the evidentiary and analysis sections of national coverage determinations.
Lead clinical advisor to multi-disciplinary teams in reviewing studies/trials related to Medicare coverage issues.
Serve as medical consultant to the Division Director in the development and modification of Medicare program coverage and payment policies to reflect changes in beneficiary health care needs, program objectives, and the health delivery system.
Provide expert clinical counsel to CMS staff and to CMS' Medicare Administrative Contractors, focusing on general health related issues pertaining to the Medicare population, and adherence to ethical and scientific standards.
