Job Description:

This vacancy is for a GS-0802-9, Mechanical Technician located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Hull Branch, Coast Guard YARD Engineering Division, Baltimore, MD.
You MUST meet the following requirements To qualify at the GS-9 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-8 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular and recurring basis. Experience with CAD software. Experience maintaining engineering technical files. Experience in preparing technical reports, project status reports. Experience working with USCG drawing database Surface Technical Information Portal (STIP). Experience working on various shipboard systems and structure onboard Coast Guard cutter classes. Experience with CG YARD TCI activities and projects. This position has a promotion potential to grade 11. You will serve as a Mechanical Technician and be responsible for providing administrative support, Computer Aided Design (CAD), and technical expertise. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Developing or modifying drawings using CAD software in either 2 or 3 dimensions. Completing ship checks to verify system condition and configuration, and correct drawings based on visit results. Providing drawings in final format that require little correction in accordance with Coast Guard design standards. Reviewing and correcting drawings produced by others to ensure that they comply with design standards.
