As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated. This probationary period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in Federal Service. Specialized experience includes performing physical security duties for the protection of cultural and/or natural resources, visitors, facilities, and assets; conducting security assessments; developing and implementing physical security plans; managing electronic and mechanical security systems; and ensuring compliance with Departmental and agency physical security policies. Experience must also include serving as, or assisting with the duties of related to structural fire management, such as overseeing alarm systems, coordinating fire inspections, and supporting the development and implementation of agency structural fire program requirements. . You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above that may be used to meet total qualification requirements. This combination can be computed by first determining the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required; then determining the education as a percentage of the education required; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentage equals 100 percent. D. I do not possess the specialized experience or education stated above. You must include transcripts. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. ICTAP/CTAP Statement: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special prior­ity selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies.
Major Duties of this position include: Development, implementation, and oversight of physical security programs designed to protect National Park Service Personnel, facilities, and critical assets. Evaluation, installation, and maintenance of alarm systems and access control measures to ensure compliance with departmental policies and the safety and security of the park operations. Oversight of fire detection and suppression systems, emergency procedures, inspections, and staff training to support safe facility operations and effective structural fire preparedness. Management and coordination of projects related to the planning, installation, maintenance, and improvement of physical security systems and fire detection and suppression systems. Provide management, oversight, and technical support of park-wide CCTV systems, including installation, maintenance, monitoring, and contractor coordination of CCTV systems.
