Job Description:

This position is located at Maintenance Division within the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Department (MWR) AT NSA Mid-South, in Millington, Tennessee. The purpose of this position is to perform facilities maintenance work, involving two or more of the skilled trades. Incumbent performs intermediate level tasks and works more independently as training and experience increase.

Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Must have at least two years of experience that demonstrates knowledge in a combination of at least two of the trades in carpentry, plumbing or painting. Must have the ability to read blue prints, sketches, building plans, etc. Must have a valid state driver's license. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. General (Duties include but are not limited to): Performs work in a variety of trades int he maintenance and repair of interior/exterior structures, related to fixtures and utilities. Installs, modifies and repairs new and existing plumbing. Installs disposal systems and equipment such as sewage and water distributions systems. Works from building plans, blueprints, and sketches. Uses skilled techniques to construct, install, repair or modify wood structures. Assemble items using a variety of techniques and uses skill in the operation of general and precision carpentry and wood working equipment and is able to produce finished products with precise fits, accurate dimensions and acceptable appearance. Performs special coating methods such as marbling and graining using coating materials prepared in special as well as common ways and by applying coating techniques that ensure surfaces have a smooth-textured and decorative appearance and meet thickness and level requirements. Observes required safety, sanitation and hazardous waste disposal rules and regulations. Operates vehicles to transport tools and materials to work site. Performs other related duties as assigned.
