About the Position: This position is assigned to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy (DASD (MC&FP), Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Personnel and Readiness (USD (P&R)). This position may be eligible for situational telework as determined by the agency policy.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-13 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating programs which support service members and/or families with special medical and/or educational needs, collaborating with various stakeholders to develop strategic plans, delivering presentations or training on programs and services available for individuals with special needs, and evaluating policy of programs related to special medical and/or educational needs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). GS-14 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating programs which support service members and/or families with special medical and/or educational needs, collaborating with various stakeholders to develop strategic plans, developing policy for programs supporting individuals with special needs, and advising senior officials on policy or procedural changes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. GS-13 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). GS-14 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
Respond to the needs of service members and their family members with special medical or educational needs by increasing communication connections with Military communities, Military OneSource, and other programs.
Deliver presentations and provide training to military and civilian audiences on the full scope of programs and services available for service members and their families with special needs.
Participate in preparation of testimony for principal members of OSD appearing before Congress.
Maintain a high level of awareness of program and regulatory requirements, management principles, and the application of technology to community support programs.
Develop policy and interpret complex regulations and laws.
Review existing programs providing support for military families with special medical or educational needs.
Identify and investigate potential problem areas to propose solutions; recommends new management and program objectives as appropriate.
Collaborate with strategic stakeholders for implementation of the Exceptional Family Member Program enrollment and assignment coordination strategy.
