Job Description:

You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the ELECTRICAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience interpreting the functions and limitations of the equipment used in the Physical/Dimensional/Optical Branch. Experience with developing techniques of high precision calibration measurements in areas of physical, dimensional, and optical metrology. Experience providing technical direction and oversight to other calibration personnel on new measurement techniques and processes or procedural changes. Experience performing re-calibration audits to ensure the quality of completed calibrations. GS-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with applying mechanical engineer methods, concepts, principles and practices. Experience calibrating and repairing all equipment used within or received for service by the Physical/Dimensional/Optical Branch. Experience with the operation and use of measurement systems including automatic calibration systems or computer-controlled measurement systems. Experience with training personnel, making oral presentations, writing reports, interpreting plans, schematics, standards, and specifications. You will be responsible for the maintenance and utilization of all equipment under the cognizance of physical/dimensional/optical branch.
You will be responsible for the technical direction of lower graded technicians, apprentices, and other trainees.
You will be responsible for the development of new procedures and techniques for Instrument Calibration Procedures and the calibration and maintenance of standards and test and measuring equipment.
You will be responsible for maintaining the calibration documents used within the branch.
