This vacancy is for a GS-0101-12, Family Advocacy Specialist (Clinical) located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, BASE NEW ORLEANS WORK-LIFE DIVISION -HW in NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana.
Basic Requirements - You must meet one of the three Basic Requirements listed below in order to be eligible for this position: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. AND (in addition to meeting the Basic Requirement above) To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. developing standard operating procedures for sexual assault, behavioral health programs, or domestic violence programs presenting briefings to upper management on Family Advocacy Program status providing intervention and case management services for child abuse and neglect cases administering a sexual assault victim advocacy program NOTE: All experience statements (i.e., duties, specialized experience, or related applicable assessment) copied from this announcement and pasted into your resume will not be considered as a demonstration of your qualifications for this position. You will serve as a Family Advocacy Specialist (Clinical) and be responsible for providing direct service in the form of counseling individuals, couples, families, and groups on matters pertaining to family dynamics, parent-child interaction, couples, families, and groups on matters pertaining to family dynamics, parent-child interaction, couples, communication, stress reduction, adjustment to military lifestyles, Family Advocacy Program (FAP) case management, treatment services and psycho-educational training programs. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Serving as a mental healthcare provider where appropriate to Family Advocacy Program and FINS clients to include providing consultation, direct counseling, case management, differential diagnosis and treatment planning. Ensuring all aspects of the Coast Guard Family Advocacy Program are completed in each case including reporting and intervention, risk assessment and appropriate coordination of safety measures, case management, referrals, and follow-ups. Providing screens for overseas duty personnel when requested by commands or Headquarters. Identifying Family Advocacy Program related intervention and prevention needs with the AOR to meet services outlined.
