Job Description:

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-05 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. OR Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience in performing a variety of administrative support duties, such as preparing correspondence and reports, copying and filing documents, auditing files, and appropriate disposal of sensitive documents. Experience in retrieving data, coding, and keying tracking information into a database and auditing actions for accuracy. Experience in initiating requests for information, tracking and monitoring suspense dates, and ensuring information received is in compliance with organizational procedures. Experience responding to routine requests for information such as status of reports, suspense dates for matters requiring compliance, and similar information readily available from files. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities. **Your eligibility for consideration will be based on your responses to the questions in the application.**
Responsible for background investigation file maintenance, including retrieving all required data for keying into the Security & Background Investigation database. Responsible for auditing, distributing, retrieving, and filing investigation files. Maintains employee background investigation files. Files information that is to be contained in folders ensuring that it is filed in a timely manner and in chronological order. Codes and keys tracking information within the section and final adjudication information into the database. Provides clerical and administrative support for the Security Section as necessary. Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated National Security Clearance at all times. Failure to obtain/maintain this clearance may result in the person being selected being reassigned to their former position or a position similar to the position they held prior to selection.
