This position is located in a National Park Service Unit. This position is a working leader assigned responsibility for building and utility maintenance work. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is March-September, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: March
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to lead or supervise (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic) Use of measuring equipment Ability to interpret instructions, specifications etc. (includes blueprints reading) Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment Knowledge of materials If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. The major duties of the Maintenance Worker Leader (seasonal) position include, but are not limited to, the following: Performs as a working leader Demonstrates proper work methods and works along with subordinates to set the workplace Checks work-in progress and completed work to determine/ensure supervisor's instructions are being followed and deadlines are met. Reports progress, issues, and delays to supervisor. Performs carpentry repairs and construction of new and existing structures or items such as building storage shelves, dry wall, repair of roofs, doors, and windows, stairs and decks. Operates hydraulic and gear driven, diesel and gasoline power dump trucks, forklifts, end loaders/backhoe, and bobcats with attachments.
