Job Description:
You will serve as an Engineer or Scientist in the Electro-Optics Technology DDM Branch (LXND), Electro-Optics Technology Division (LXN), Sensor Integration & Technology Department (LX) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. The ND-05 encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-14/15.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer or scientist providing technical oversight and leadership in test and evaluation, integration, or upgrading warfare technology (e.g. electro-optic; infrared; laser) system requirements to meet validation and transition objectives for weapons programs. You will serve as the Test and Evaluation (T and E) Chief Engineer (CHENG) for Electro-Optic Technology Division (EOTD).
You will work alongside the division’s CHENG and Chief Scientist, advising division leadership on matters pertaining to the current and future state of T and E capabilities and the general state of EO/IR technology.
You will provide technical leadership in electro-optic, infrared, and laser technology areas.
You will develop a long-term vision for EO/IR T and E capabilities in tandem with Chief Engineer and Chief Scientist and communicate across the organization.
You will manage upgrade to T and E enhancements for the division, this includes facility enhancements, test equipment acquisition, installations, etc.
You will assist in obtaining funding sources and/or proposals to aid in T and E upgrades beyond direct program funding to pursue funding for future T and E capabilities.
You will analyze current T and E capabilities and address gaps within the division to meet mission requirements.
You will create the T and E Roadmap that articulates the division’s baseline ability to perform effective evaluations of current EOIR Technologies / fielded systems and future upgrades to support emerging technologies.
You will generate and manage processes for Validation and Verification of division programs in a manner that supports test and product requirements traceability.
