You will serve as Principal Technical Manager for the Air-Breathing Engines Technical Expert in the Air System Groups, Technical Director Office of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV. The Secretary of War has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (TQs): Your resume should demonstrate accomplishments that would satisfy the technical qualifications. TQ#1. Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Air Breathing Engine technologies to include advanced design and development of all types of Air Breathing Engines; gas turbines, reciprocating, hybrid, etc. TQ#2. Ability to provide full spectrum leadership of S&T and RDT&E efforts applicable to the advanced experimental and analytical methodologies resulting in the design, development, assessment, and implementation of pertinent technologies in Manned and Unmanned Aircraft Propulsion Systems Technology Development that will integrate key programmatic, DON, and DoD policies and goals. You will provide independent and authoritative technical advice on advanced complex state-of the-art technical issues, projects, or programs to other experts, senior leaders, Navy Flag Officers, and/or Senior Executive Service personnel.
You will serve as Senior design expert for air-breathing engines (e.g., gas turbine, reciprocating, ramjet, etc.), including advanced development and acquisition.
You will direct new initiatives for the Navy associated with next generation systems and subsystems, e.g. variable cycle engine technology and advanced prognostics and diagnostics .
You will be responsible for development and execution of RDT and E advanced efforts for air-breathing engines across all Naval Aviation programs and platforms.
You will evaluate program development and provides overall technical direction, conducts reviews, assesses soundness of technical objectives and risks and provides risk management alternatives and qualification plans to ensure requirements are met.
You will liaison with engine and platform IPTs to execute technology insertion including acquisition planning, trade studies, return on investment and life cycle cost studies.
You will develop of adaptive turbine engine cycle modeling and simulation tools.
You will lead teams of scientists and engineers to ensure adherence to robust design standards and practices to solve complex engineering issues arising from the development, test, and in-service operation of air-breathing engines.
