THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE TECHNICIAN(TITLE 5), Position Description Number T5904200 and is part of the FL 125th FW, National Guard.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Service "under the authority of Title 5, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA)", and is open to current on-board (Tenure 1, 2 and 3) US Federal employees interested in helping the Department of the Air Force/Army meet our mission requirements as a Industrial Hygiene Technician.? PCS- Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. Recruitment / Relocation: Incentive MAY be authorized. ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. FLANG BUS Code NG0523: This position is "included" in the bargaining unit and eligible for labor organization representation. The current exclusive representative is The Association of Civilian Technicians, Chapter 86 and the President is Mr. Robert Morgan at rmorgan@actnat.com MINIMUM EDUCATION: Must have completed a 4 year course of study which lead to a bachelor's degree, with a major or at least 24 semester hours in the technical field of industrial hygiene or public/occupational health YOU MUST UPLOAD TRANSCRIPTS WITH YOUR APPLICATION, WHICH ARE LEGIBLE WITH SCHOOL AND STUDENT INFORMATION- AND CLEARLY SHOW THE COMPLETION OF THE REQUIRED COURSES. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-08 must have at least one year experience at the next lower level in the normal line of progression through federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public/occupational sector which provided a working knowledge of public/occupational health missions, organizations, programs and requirements of public/occupational health systems. Experience involved in performing or assisting with a varied range of workplace health or bioenvironmental activities. Experience interpreting various policies and procedures used in state military public/occupational health programs.
As a, Industrial Hygiene Technician, GS-0640-08, you will ensure statutory and regulatory compliance with applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Air Force Occupational Safety and health (AFOSH) directives in the ANG area of assignment. Serve as a technical advisor to Wing leadership on all issues pertaining to above directives. Serve as an advisor concerning OSHA, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and US Air Force on installation health matters. Research industrial operations and develop, implement, and execute surveillance strategies, inspections and evaluations of operational facilities, and various activities to detect and eliminate health hazards. Write industrial facility case files on installation industrial shops in accordance with Air Force Instruction (AFI) 48-145, Occupational Health Program. Design appropriate methods and techniques of surveys. Perform no-notice, spot, and special inspections of operational facilities and work sites base wide when statistical analysis and conditions dictate need, when new equipment is to be installed, and/or when hazardous conditions exist.submitted for consistency with guidelines, reasonableness and accuracy. Presents budgetary briefings with supporting statistical data to senior leadership who use the data to defend budget and manpower requirements before making decisions. Presents the command position and defends budget requirements to visitors and budget examiners.
