This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position:This position is responsible supervising law enforcement operations in the prevention and detection of crimes, the arrest and apprehension of violators and providing assistance to citizens in emergency situations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying laws and regulations to law enforcement operations, practices and techniques including enforcing traffic laws and issuing citations; performing law enforcement investigations; overseeing suspect apprehension and witness interviews; and responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
Develop current and long-range law enforcement operation plans for the Ft. Leavenworth installation.
Review inspection reports and studies and implement corrective actions.
Conduct liaison visits to local law enforcement agencies to discuss problems, interagency support and future plans.
Establish, supervise and direct the overall organization, planning and operation of the Operations Branch.
Conduct studies and develop recommendations on proposed new missions.
Prepare requests to fill vacancies and estimate and justify resources needed to accomplish plans and missions.
Interview and oversee the interview process and selection of new employees.
Serve as a Police Officer with responsibility to investigate and apprehend suspects and explain rights and procedures to violators.
Plan, schedule and distribute work to subordinates.
