Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist (Pediatrics): Degree: Successful completion of a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized Experience: Conducting psycho-diagnostic assessments to pediatric or adolescent population; providing crisis intervention to an individual or group setting; and assisting with developing treatment plans.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Special Placement Factor: Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. Conducts comprehensive psychological assessments and implements specialized procedures to address developmental, emotional, and behavioral disorders that interfere with children’s ability to benefit from educational programs.
Evaluates acute mental health needs and provides crisis intervention to reduce psychological distress.
Selects, approves, and documents treatment priorities through a treatment plan
Contributes to program evaluation, policy development, and organizational decision-making by providing expert insight into behavioral health issues across pediatric and family populations.
Participates in case conferences and multidisciplinary treatment planning to ensure coordinated, stepped-care across the system.
Screens and interviews children, adolescents, and family members, and utilizes psychometric instruments in the assessment of psychological disorders typically affecting children and adolescents.
Executes performance initiatives (PI) through revision of clinical standards and procedures.
Provides expert professional consultation to primary care providers and other professional staff regarding the psychological functioning of children, adolescents, and families
