Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineering analyzing engineering documents and making naval architecture or structural engineering recommendations to ensure the successful design, construction, overhaul, or repair of a ship or submarine. You will serve as Naval Architect in the Engineering Department, Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion, and Repair (SUPSHIP) in the design, construction, overhaul and repair of nuclear-powered submarines.
You will review, analyze, research, prepare correspondence, recommend corrective action, consult with the contractor, and participate in conferences pertaining to manufacturing and installation deficiencies and waterfront problems.
You will determine the technical adequacy of engineering recommendations as reflected in documents.
You will provide engineering recommendations and aid in the form of technical comments.
You will provide conference representation for the branch supervisor, Design, Planning, Contract, Material and Quality Assurance Departments in connection with the design, construction, testing, conversion and repair of submarines.
You will recommend improvements in the design and operation of methods to be used in fabrication.
You will provide technical advice to other engineers on possible approaches to the solution of problems and review of technical documents.
You will serve as the SUPSHIP technical representative on the contractor’s design/build teams.
You will facilitate the identification and mitigation of design, construction, and program risks, while monitoring team progress in achieving scheduled products.
