Job Description:

You will serve as a Industrial Equipment Mechanic (Lifting Device Inspector) in the Facility & Plant Maintenance Division of FLTREADCEN EAST.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Knowledge of sling types (e.g., wire rope, chain, synthetic), inspection standards, load capacities, and safety factors. The ability to identify defects or hazards and effective communication, recordkeeping skills, and compliance with safety regulations. Perform a wide variety of complex inspections. You will inspect weight handling equipment lifting devices and associated equipment to assure that material used in the equipment will comply with designed load requirements and safety standards.
You will visually inspect hydraulic lift cylinders for pits, crack, leaks, worn or defective seals, etc.
You will use Non Destructive Test Processes to inspect for cracks, breaks, surface and subsurface discontinuities in welds, weldments, beams, hooks, lifting devices, and ancillary hardware.
You will conduct a quality assurance check for completeness of work and stamps his certification.
