Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least one (1) year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience. Applicant must possess superior oral and written communication skills, as well as strong character and interpersonal skills; have demonstrated the capacity to function, with minimal guidance, in a highly demanding environment. United States citizenship is required for consideration. Preferred Qualifications: Outstanding academic record; complex litigation experience involving child pornography and child exploitation; exceptional research and writing ability; the ability to successfully represent the interest of the United States in federal court; the ability to handle and successfully manage a heavy case load involving complex cases. You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
The U.S. Attorney's Office is currently seeking to fill a Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) position in the Criminal Division in our St. Louis Office. The incumbent will serve as the district's dedicated prosecutor for child pornography, enticement, child exploitation, and human trafficking. The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing forensic examinations of computer-based images and ensure requested prosecutions meeting federal guidelines are effectively prosecuted. Attorneys in the Criminal Division try a large number of cases, conduct proactive investigations using a wide range of investigative tools, and pursue matters involving undercover operations and confidential sources. Additionally, these attorneys research legal issues, draft motions or motion responses, and handle briefing and argument before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
