This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serve as a Security Guard for the Directorate of Emergency Services at Fort Riley, Kansas.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) The protection of property for a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization against hazards such as: fire, theft, accident, or trespass; 2) Maintaining order and protecting life 3) Controlling access of vehicles, visitors and/or pedestrians into a facility or area. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
The incumbent serves as a Security Guard assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installations.
This position functions as the first layer of defense in a security-in-depth concept to deter, detect, delay, assess, respond, and document unauthorized access to Army installations restricted to the general public.
Guards are responsible for preserving the life, health and safety of government personnel and safeguarding Army property, and technologies against such threats.
Guards determine fitness and grant access to those individuals that have met screening requirements and demonstrated a need to access the installation.
