Job Description:

You will serve as the Distinguished Scientist/Engineer for Surface Engagement System at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Naval Sea Systems Command. You will serve as a nationally and internationally recognized technical leader in offensive and defensive surface engagement capabilities from concept theories, mathematical models, and simulations to rapid development, prototyping, system integration and fielding to provide revolutionary advances for surface engagement systems.

Nationally recognized technical expert in the full range of Surface Engagement functions, including Gun Weapon Systems, Electromagnetic Launching Systems, Missile Weapon Systems, Ordnance Systems, Fire Control Systems, Directed Energy, and Unmanned Systems. TQ 2. Expertise in all aspects of distributed fire control loops and kill chains and over-theĀ­horizon threats as it relates to the enhancement of engagement capability on US Navy ships. You will serve as the Senior Scientist and leading technologist in the field of shipboard and coordinated surface engagement systems, and represent the Navy at both the national and international level.
You will guide and coordinate efforts to ensure programs result in systems useful to the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Marine Corps Systems Command (USMC), and the Department of War (DoW).
You will serve as the authoritative expert for development of new fundamental scientific knowledge in surface engagement technologies.
You will direct exploratory investigations to determine if new advancements can be applied to improve the capability of future naval systems.
You will be responsible for strategic vision in developing advances in fundamental science as it relates to weapon guidance in areas of control theory, guidance control, and power system integration for electric weapons.
You will lead research in the basic scientific principles and technology trends in the surface weapon engagement domain with expert understanding in war fighting, weapon phenomenology, guidance control theory, and advanced systems engineering.
You will provide technical oversight and collaborative guidance in surface weapon engagement systems across Navy labs, industry, and academia and will provide consultation to other technical experts, Navy and OSD leadership.
