Job Description:

The Clinical Education Consultant supports IHSC's Clinical Education service line by developing, managing, and delivering clinical training for IHSC staff nationwide. Duties include consulting, curriculum design, accreditation support, training delivery, and trend analysis. This is a non-supervisory position. This position is only open to USPHS officers who are currently IHSC employees. USPHS Call to Active Duty (CAD) candidates are not eligible for this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required to facilitate training for up to 3 hours consistently standing. Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time [6-8 Hours]. Performing repeated bending motion. Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and often austere environment without physical limitations. Average manual dexterity for computer operation. Phone use for extended periods of time. Occasional travel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as primary support for the Senior Clinical Training. Support the MEDU Clinical Education Service Line. Analyze the MEDU Clinical Education Service Line's goals, objectives, priorities, and activities in terms of current operating activities, program progress, and policy development and revision. Provide clinical education consulting to relevant stakeholders with the clinical service line to enhance clinical competencies and specialized patient care within established disciplines, guidelines, and protocols. Utilizes the interdisciplinary approach in the training and education offerings for healthcare staff. Supports the Continuing Education Advisory Board and assist with accreditation program for the agency. Supports interprofessional continuing education for the agency to include programs like the IHSC Grand Rounds Program. Develop and manage clinical training courses listed in the Learning Management System. Manages electronic medical resources such as UpToDate, Pharmacopia, etc. Reviews electronic health record, mortality reviews, root cause analysis, medication error and adverse event reports to develop, deliver, enhance, and analyze clinical education trainings. Analyzes clinical education training trends and implements educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards and parameters. Provide clinical education training to all IHSC healthcare providers to close knowledge gaps and enhance clinical competencies. Consults with internal and external subject matter experts to ensure that clinical education training incorporates evidenced-based research and national standards. Collaborates with MEDU team members in the design of training materials, coordinates staff trainings and workshops. Assist with the development and training of agency-sponsored professional development curriculum, training material and train-the-trainer programs. Support the development of eLearning aids to develop and enhance adult learning interactions. Travel to Headquarters (HQ) and/or IHSC facilities as required, to conduct training or ensure compliance with clinical education training policies and procedures. Prepare and present clinical educational and leadership content at professional and academic conferences. Performs other duties as assigned.
