General Experience: You qualify at the Grade 04 level if you possess one year of general experience that equipped you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. General experience is defined as clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties in support of programs. OR Education Substitution: Successful completion of two full years of study above the high school level in an accredited college, university or business, secretarial or technical school may be substituted for the required general experience. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet the required experience qualifications. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations, (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
This job opportunity is located in the Survey Processing Branch, National Processing Center (NPC), Jeffersonville, IN. This position performs clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties in support of programs. This position is in the bargaining unit. The individual selected for this position will: Contact respondents to collect data; receives inquiries from respondents, assists when possible and referring those that are non-routine to higher grade technician or appropriate analyst. Contact respondents to collect data and perform analysis of statistical data in relation to previously reported data, resolves questionable data responses. Code a variety of technical documents according to established classification characteristics; edits reports for completeness; compiles statistical tables; recognizes out of tolerance items; inconsistencies between items, data reporting errors, and data entry errors. Search for a variety of readily available data sources to gather statistical data. Edit reports for completeness and internal consistency and assures that information is within the scope of the assigned project.
