This position is part of the Agency Support Operations, Government Publishing Office in Washington, DC.
To qualify for the Property Disposal Technician, PG-1107-7, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience that is equivalent to at least the PG-6 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, which includes: (1) Maintaining records on surplus items and recommending methods for disposal. (2) Preparing property descriptions to conduct surplus property sales. (3) Compiling reports and financial inventory documents related to excess and surplus property. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (04/30/2026) to be considered.
Performs property disposal functions consisting of the receipt, care, temporary storage, control, reissue, and/or other disposition of all items returned as surplus property.
Maintains listings of surplus parts and determines if spare or replacement equipment/machinery parts are in stock and included within disposals.
Prepares reports of unserviceable items and recommends methods for disposal.
Compiles statistical reports and financial inventory documents on excess and surplus property and disposition actions taken.
Recognizes surplus properties that may affect the health and safety of others, such as chemicals, hazardous materials, or waste, and ensures appropriate handling, adherence to storage time limitations, and proper labeling for disposal.
