Position administratively supports the Assistant Chief in monitor HAS data systems, generating reports for daily operation and statistical data usage. This position is ONLY open for the Health Administration Service (HAS) at the Central Virginia VA Health Care System.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/01/2026. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: experience where you were responsible for providing administrative support functions within a healthcare facility; experienced with procurement processes necessary to obtain goods and services for an office; performing automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics; assisting in the formulation and execution of budget estimates to include updating budget spreadsheets which are used in briefings; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; and researching reference materials, regulations, and standards to identify appropriate action necessary to correct problems or issues. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. There is no educational substitution for the GS-07 level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Duties and responsibilities for this position include, but not limited to the following: Performs duties directly contributing to the administrative management of the facility's health care delivery system, more specifically, is responsible for organizing, developing, training, clinic designing, and evaluating the medical center's Consult/Scheduling/Electronic Wait List activities and functions. assist the Office of the Chief, HAS, in conducting special studies and analyses of activities that may present problems of a special nature to health administration service and the medical center. Plans and conducts surveys and/or research for Health Administration Service to assess the effectiveness of program operations. Analyzes and evaluates quantitative or qualitative effectiveness of line program operations in meeting established goals and objectives. Receives and processes requests for special informational studies, surveys, questionnaires, recurring and non-recurring reports, etc. Independent and extensive research into pertinent regulations, operating procedure, established policy, interviewing key personnel, and subordinate staff. Develops programs for internal audits, systematic reviews, and employee training. prepares an activity report to the management in clinical services for monitoring patient activities, such as admissions, discharges, transfers to other facilities, inter-ward transfers, treating specialties, length of stay, bed days of care, deaths with and without autopsies, etc. Work Schedule: 8:00AM-4:30PM, Monday-Friday Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
