This position is at the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) in the Office of External Affairs and Communications (OEAC). This position serves as a Writer-Editor responsible for editing text, publications, and graphics in materials prepared by staff and authoring original documents such as newsletters.
Specialized experience is the experience that has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. All applicants applying for the CU-13 grade level must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the CU/GS-12 grade level obtained in the private or public sector. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience: composing written information; editing materials to ensure conformance with established formats; and providing advice on, developing, or modifying organization-wide writing or editorial guidance. As a Writer-Editor, you will: Edit and proofread a variety of documents, such as the NCUA news clips, Letters to Credit Unions, the NCUA Annual Report, other guidance papers, reports, instructions, whitepapers, memoranda, speeches, manuals, testimony, presentations, talking points, and policy papers to ensure smoothness of language and conformity to established standards of grammar, language, usage, style, and format. Support the agency's Plain Writing Act Officer to ensure clear government communications. Edit the work of individuals to ensure written products are logical and well-structured to conform to current English-usage standards and established editorial style. Author original documents as assigned by conducting appropriate research and fact gathering, in coordination with other offices, including coordinating with and receiving input from applicable staff, to reach appropriate conclusions and convey those conclusions in an effective manner. Research relevant laws, regulations, policies, and programs to develop complete and accurate statements and information.
