Job Description:
As a Geotechnical Engineer you will coordinate planning and design for a multi-discipline team of engineers, scientists and other professionals for a variety of project designs, unique one-time projects, and improvements to existing projects. You'll apply advanced knowledge of geotechnical engineering and general knowledge of structural, hydraulic and civil engineering to define the nature and scope of work, and to project assumptions and derive criteria from inconclusive or variable data.

Minimum Qualifications: Your resume should clearly identify at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in federal service with performing independent geotechnical field inspections, site investigations, and analysis and design for civil works projects. Coordinate or develop project scopes, including task outlines, schedules, and cost estimates.
Oversee tasks with team members and adjust project timetables or budgets as necessary.
Coordinate multi-discipline teams to produce design reports, memorandums, plans, specifications, and construction engineering.
Provide design criteria to the team and ensure that correct solutions and design procedures are utilized.
Apply geotechnical expertise to develop unique, cost-effective solutions that balance engineering correctness with environmental and economic realities.
Review all products produced by the team to ensure absolute correctness and completeness.
Coordinate project phases with other divisions, external agencies, and the public to ensure regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction.
Plan and deliver special presentations to higher authorities, peer review panels, and customers.
Provide advanced geotechnical engineering solutions and supporting documentation to other teams for unique projects or existing project repairs.
Perform independent technical reviews for designs produced in-house and for work performed by other districts.
