Job Description:

This position is located in Office of NPS Liaison to the White House, in the White House and President's Park Division.The primary purpose of the position is to operate one or more motor vehicles. Open to the first 150 applicants or until 05/08/2026 whichever comes first. All applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on the closing day will receive consideration.
Requirements Continued... You must possess and maintain a current Class B (or higher) Commercial Driver's License. . You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 3 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. You will be considered emergency/essential personnel. To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT) Operation of Motor Vehicles Work Practices Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Reliability and Dependability as a Motor Vehicle Operator Commercial Driver's License - Class B (SCREEN OUT): You must possess and maintain a current Class B (or higher) Commercial Driver's License with air brake endorsement.If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. The major duties of the Motor Vehicle Operator position include, but are not limited to, the following: Operate motor vehicles including platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, specialty pumping equipment and trash. Drive vehicles over public roads at highway speeds to transport passengers, supplies, materials or equipment and tools or to tow equipment throughout rural and urban areas. Operate vehicles over rough terrain, in close quarters and in heavy traffic on both long and short hauls Perform routine preventative maintenance such as checking and adding fluids to bring to proper levels, checking air pressure and adding when required. Perform semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance, repair and janitorial work in and on various unit buildings
