THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR, Position Description Number D1207000 and is part of the MD CSMS, National Guard.
Military Grades: Enlisted E5 - E9 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions, and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.??????? Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience and/or training must show possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position.
The purpose of this position is to inspect the repair of electronics equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards and specifications. This position performs the following duties: Uses a wide variety of inspection techniques to inspect standard electronic systems such as radar, radio communications receivers, and transmitters (single band, UHF and VHF), mobile subscriber equipment (MSE), missile guidance systems, laser range finders, and electronic fire control systems. Conducts inspections, diagnoses nature and extent of equipment malfunction, and as required, performs required maintenance to restore to a serviceable condition various types of tactical computers, radio sets, etc. Uses various types of test equipment such as systems tests sets, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, AN/GRM-122s, and other electronic testing devices to inspect equipment and components. Inspects equipment when received to determine repairs needed and parts required. Inspects equipment to determine repairs needed. Utilizes established Maintenance Expenditure Limits (MEL) to evaluate economic feasibility of repair(s). Considers a variety of factors such as cost and availability of parts, man-hours, and impact of time constraints on the mission to assess whether repair is economical. Recommends to a higher echelon to condemn equipment when the repair cost exceeds the established MEL. Prepares lists of needed repairs, parts, and man-hours authorized. Inspects the full range of equipment as described above at remote worksites in support of field organizations, field units during field exercise training periods, or before major pieces of equipment are sent for repair to a supporting maintenance facility. Performs other duties as assigned.
