Job Description:

Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the DoD in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information. Telework availability is limited and will only be provided on a rare case-by-case basis during situations where Agency Leadership has determined that telework serves a compelling DoD need.
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-04) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. GS-05 Specialized experience is defined as: performing basic technical functions related to security rules, procedures, or operations for a facility or organization and providing access control badges for a facility, its visitors and employees. One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-05) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. GS-06 Specialized experience is defined as: providing security guidelines to management in support of continuing operations of a facility or an organization; administering electronic access controls for verified personnel; and maintaining automated records for authorized property and personnel. One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-06) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. GS-07 Specialized experience is defined as: Manages facility access control by verifying clearance eligibility, conducting investigations into security breaches and making recommendations for corrective actions, assist with writing reports or revisions to security standard operating procedures and conducting building checks. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Serves as a Security Assistant in support of the Site Support Office on matters relating to security and Force Protection programs. Reports violations of building security policies.
Administers visual monitoring of security control panels, sound alarms, and visual observation of unsecured ingress/egress areas. Responds to security alarms on a 24-hour basis.
Coordinates with Organizational Directors to determine access levels for staff members. Maintains an open channel of communication with Federal Protective Service and supporting security offices regarding activities considered as a security threat.
Uses the Defense Eligibility Enrollment System (DEERS) database, to verify issuance of identification cards. Incumbent takes adequate security measures to secure and protect DOD property and personnel records as directed.
Verifies clearance levels for authorized access to systems and databases; assists with issuing facility access badges for eligible personnel.
