You will serve as an AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the FACILITY & INFRASTRUCTURE MGMT DEPT of FLTREADCEN EAST.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: 1) Using working knowledge of Facilities Management System (FMS) software or equivalent system to monitor and repair medium to large industrial/commercial chilled water systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) systems, evaporative cooling systems, environmental systems, and other utility-related systems; 2) Inspecting, installing, maintaining, operating, repairing, and testing medium to large industrial/commercial HVAC&R systems including circulating air and chilled water HVAC systems, low/medium/high temperature refrigeration systems, and total environmentally controlled systems; 3) Utilizing principles and theories of the HVAC&R trade (refrigeration cycle, heat transfer laws, refrigerant tables, etc.) to calculate airflow, pressure, and temperature characteristics for a variety of systems; 4) Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical instructions to complete installation and repair of HVAC&R systems and associated equipment; 5) Performing air balancing measurements to record the volume of airflow in accordance with industry standards and balance systems as needed based on recorded measurements; 6) Maintaining electrical/electronic, microprocessor, and pneumatic temperature/pressure controls ensuring calibrated controls for all types of medium to large industrial/commercial chilled water systems, HVAC&R systems, and evaporative cooling systems.
